Hospitality may be defined as the provision of Accommodation, Food and Beverage, Transportation and Entertainment which earn millions of Rands annually. This takes place internationally at hotels, game lodges/parks, casinos, clubs, restaurants, take away, B&B’s, cruise ships, sea ferries and guest houses. Hospitality is one of the most dynamic industries to work in and is growing at a faster pace than many other industries in South Africa with the government playing a big role in its growth, particularly in regard to tourism. Many different activities take place in the hospitality industry; from hotel reception and housekeeping to cooking, waiting on diners and bar service. This means that there are many career opportunities available to those people who have had the right kind of education and training. This is where South African Hospitality Institute comes into play.
